Model E (spiral staircase) will be a complimentary exploded model to fit with Model C. Its design will be representative not literal.
Frame for the staircase made of dowel. Levels measured to match the tower enclosure of Model C. I selected this more substantial material to ensure it was capable of supporting a wire structure. The shorter lengths of dowel are secured with screws for the same reason.
First experimentation with wire forms to represent the path of the staircase. I decided the basic form was adequate however it would need be duplicated to become more substantial.
I manufactured a small piece of card with holes punched in it to guide the wire as I shaped it appropriately. I found this variety of wire (PVC tie wire) was unwieldy in the way it rested and hence I ran the risk of tangling together all of the individual wires. I found that this device held the wires in place appropriately. Additionally, as I wrapped the wire around each piece of dowel I found it was necessary to add a temporary zip tie to prevent the wire slipping off.
The completed form pictured alone and with its exploded housing.
